Dr Michael P Houghton MA MRCP FRCGP (male)
qualified at Cambridge University in 1978 and came to Stretton in 1988.
As well as his work at Brookside Surgery, Dr Houghton works one day a
week at Walsgrave Hospital, Coventry in the Emergency Assessment Unit.
Dr Kay Bridgeman MB ChB MRCGP (female) qualified from
Birmingham University in 1991 and joined the practice in 1997. Dr Bridgeman
works part time (2 days a week), her special interests are Women's Health
and Paediatrics and she oversees our Well Baby Clinic.
Rosemary Edgar RGN (Practice Nurse) joined the practice
in 1999. Rosie is a Specialist Practitioner Nurse and holds qualifications
in Family Planning, Asthma Care, Diabetes and Nurse Triaging. Rosie works
closely with the doctors in the care of patients' long term conditions
such as diabetes, asthma and high blood pressure. She has a particular
interest in women's health and is available for cervical smears, family
planning and sexual health advice.
Patricia Ditchfield RGN (Practice Nurse) the newest
member of the team, Pat has a wealth of experience in hospital nursing
and has now turned this to good use within the Practice. Pat is available
for vaccinations, ear syringing, blood pressure monitoring and healthy
living advice. She is undertaking a diploma in Respiratory Care and is
assisting the GPs in the assessment and care of our patients with asthma
and COPD.
Helen James, our Midwife, sees all our pregnant ladies
for their routine antenatal care and looks after them for the first few
weeks after delivery. She holds her clinic on Monday afternoons.
Claire Hilliard is our Health Visitor and offers care
and advice to families with children aged under 5. She is based at the
Orchard Centre in Rugby but also holds a weekly clinic at the surgery
on each Wednesday between 10.30 12.00
The District Nursing team work with the practice in the care of our
housebound patients. They liaise closely with the doctors and the Practice
Nurses
We have a Phlebotomist who comes from Warwick Hospital
twice a week to take blood samples for testing on Tuesday 8.30 9.30 and
Thursday 11.15 12.15
The
Extended Team
Receptionists:-
Jane, Marilyn, Pam and Sue are
your first point of contact and will help with any queries you have
and make appointments. They will help you as much as possible but
cannot give any medical advice.
Dispensers:-
Debbie Biddle, Lorraine Stapleton and Paula Colin supervise
the medicines that the Doctors prescribe. Many medical conditions
need monitoring and Julie and Tonya will inform you when a check
up is due. They liaise each morning with the Doctors. Requests for
repeat prescriptions should be made using your repeat request form
or by phoning the dispensary on (024) 7654 5181
Secretary:-
Tish Houghton, carries out administrative duties and arranges
referrals to hospitals
The
Management Team:-
Madeleine Clark and Karen Rogers, are responsible for the
administration of the practice and welcomes any comments you may
have on the service
you receive.
