The visit to
Montbéliard, at the end of May 2003 was again a resounding success.
A group of 14 people, most by cars, the others by plane, stayed with our
French Friends in and around Montbéliard in Eastern France. The
programme was well balanced with a mixture of culture, beautiful scenery
of the Haut Doubs, …. and numerous gatherings around a good table
in local auberges with excellent wines. This time our visits included in
the Jura the small church of Les Brézeux famous for its stained
glass windows by the French artist Manessier and an 11th century chapel
in Bizot a stone’s throw from the Swiss border.A couple of years
ago, we agreed with our French Friends to visit each other on alternate
years only. This means the next visit of the Amis du Mai Anglais and their
English classes to Stretton will now take place in April 2005 |
