At Knightlow we expect high standards of behaviour.
Within our school we operate a policy of positive rewards for good behaviour
based on Discipline for Learning. We believe that each child is capable
of choosing his/her behaviour and should be rewarded for making the right
choices.
Our
school rules are displayed in each classroom and are taught regularly.
For children who choose not to follow the rules there is a
clearly laid down set of sanctions.
Some
rules are based on our expectations and others on respect and care
for one another.
We
aim to encourage children to accept responsibility for their own actions
and try to
help them understand
the consequences of their behaviour and the reason why certain
behaviour is unacceptable. If there are persistent problems, parents are involved at an early stage
in discussions with the class teacher. If necessary, an Individual Behaviour
Plan will be drawn up with the parents, child and class teacher and this
will be reviewed regularly.
Children
can earn individual stickers, which can be displayed on clothing or
placed in
a book. They can earn additional rewards within the classrooms
or around the school.
Copies
of our “Discipline for Learning Policy” are
available in school, and each year we ask parents to sign a “Home
School Agreement” to say they support the school in our behaviour
policy, which is designed to ensure that all children have an equal opportunity
to learn without disruption. Examples of unacceptable behaviour:

- verbal and physical
