Why Have a Parish Plan?

What are they? A chance for communities to produce their vision of the future and a blueprint for action to improve village life.

Who does them? Parish Councils can be grant-aided to lead the process, and to organise a community consultation. Then working in partnership with local authorities and other agencies, secure a commitment to making the necessary changes.

Why should we? Parish Plans are an opportunity for local people to have their say and influence the development of their communities – AND grants to help fund projects identified by the process will be easier to obtain.

Examples: Harbury was awarded £25,000 for a skateboard park. Wolvey had £5,500 for Play area Safety Surfaces and Wilmcote was granted £17,000 to improve their Village Hall.

What if we don’t? Outside organisations, including Developers can produce a Parish Plan for Stretton on Dunsmore and have that plan lodged with Rugby Borough Council.

What does it need? Proof and commitment! With these you can secure change and convince funders.

How do we do it? Get involved with the Parish Plan Project Board. Contact Mrs Gill Key-Vice on 76 541219 or any Parish Councillor or email The Web Team
